Assessing Languages without Available Proficiency Assessments: Meeting Bilingual and Multilingual Seal and World Language Proficiency Certificate Criteria.

The goals of this workshop are to:

  1. Explore and use ACTFL proficiency guidelines and levels and proficiency assessment criteria and rubrics;
  2. Consider any existing assessment resources for respective languages;
  3. Identify an assessment framework to measure students language proficiency to meet seal criteria; and
  4. Organize work groups to continue developing assessments.

This workshop is intended for teachers of languages for which no proficiency assessments exist, such as Somali, Karen, Tibetan, etc., and native speakers of those languages willing to work with teachers on assessments.

Registration: 8:30 a.m. – 9 a.m.
