Are you looking for creative, new ways to engage your students and increase their target language use in the classroom? Join us for this fun and interactive workshop to learn and practice a variety of new, research-based strategies for promoting creative student interaction with texts and tasks. The more your students enjoy interacting with the target language, the more they will learn! A handout will be provided with a description of each strategy differentiated by grade level (3-5, 6-8, 7-12).

Target audience: Foreign language and language immersion teachers, grades 3-12.

Presenter: Amy Young is a CARLA Fellow and doctoral student in the Second Languages and Cultures Education program in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota. The focus of her research is effective instruction and peer interaction in multilingual, multicultural language immersion classrooms.
