The Blake School seeks to hire a dynamic Latin teacher for grades 9-12, capable of teaching all levels of Upper School Latin, for the 2019-2020 school year. The ideal candidate is an accomplished teacher of Latin with student-centered pedagogy and successful classroom experience. We are looking for a candidate who is familiar with current teaching and learning research – including Standards for Classical Language Learning and Comprehensible Input — involved in ongoing professional development and experienced with effective use of established and emergent technologies, preferably in a 1:1 environment. Because this position requires collaborative work with faculty in and out of the Modern and Classical Languages Department, excellent interpersonal skills are a must. Successful candidates will be positive, enthusiastic and proactive educators with a passion for working with adolescents and supporting them in developing a high level of proficiency in Latin. Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes a community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.
Additional duties will include advising students, holding conferences with students and parents, active engagement in the work of the department and participation in department, division and all-school initiatives. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position for one year only.
