    Job Description:

    The Blake School seeks a creative and dynamic full-time Upper School Spanish teacher for a one-semester sabbatical coverage from January 2022 through June 2022 . This is a temporary position.

    Strong candidates will demonstrate native or near-native fluency with outstanding teaching ability and extensive experience with students in advanced-level Spanish. This position entails teaching three sections of high school Spanish 5. Modern & classical languages teachers design curriculum, assessments and instruction driven by ACTFL standards and language proficiency targets that emphasize students’ development of language skills and confidence in the language. Candidates should have a strong interest in working in a community committed to pluralism and be inquisitive, self-directed and team-oriented.

    Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes our community strong and empowers students to engage across differences. 

    Application review will begin immediately. Blake will typically cover the travel and lodging costs for finalist candidates visiting from out of town.

     

    Experience and Skills:

    Minimum Qualifications :

    • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Spanish (a teaching credential is not required)
    • Native or near-native fluency in the language
    • Successful experience teaching Spanish to high school students using student-centered pedagogy
    • Training in the teaching of a world language and knowledge of essential concepts of Second Language Acquisition
    • Demonstrated intercultural competence
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including humor and flexibility
    • Strong organizational ability
    • Respect for children and their potential
    • Creative, joyful approach to learning and teaching
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Constructivist educational philosophy
    • Commitment to partnership with parents/guardians

In addition, candidates should demonstrate the ability to create developmentally appropriate curricula, establish a nurturing and engaging classroom environment for all students, and work collaboratively with a teaching partner, various colleagues, and parents/guardians. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrate strength in the integration of technology to enhance Spanish instruction, and apply knowledge regarding best instructional practices in teaching world languages.     Anyone who would be interested in a .5 FTE German position at Coon Rapids High School, is encouraged to apply at AHschools.us (link to posting)

    Coon Rapids is a northern suburb of Minneapolis. It is a large district and can likely cobble together more FTE among buildings, but the original post if part-time.

    St. Francis Xavier School, Buffalo MN seeks a full-time Latin teacher to provide classroom instruction to students in Kindergarten-8th grade.

    The candidate should possess a MN teaching license or applicable licensure, be able to work with a variety of age groups, have strong communication skills, and be able to work as a member of a team.  It is preferred that the candidate is also a practicing Catholic.

    The Blake School seeks to hire a dynamic Latin teacher for grades 9-12, capable of teaching all levels of Upper School Latin, for the 2019-2020 school year.  The ideal candidate is an accomplished teacher of Latin with student-centered pedagogy and successful classroom experience. We are looking for a candidate who is familiar with current teaching and learning research – including Standards for Classical Language Learning and Comprehensible Input — involved in ongoing professional development and experienced with effective use of established and emergent technologies, preferably in a 1:1 environment. Because this position requires collaborative work with faculty in and out of the Modern and Classical Languages Department, excellent interpersonal skills are a must. Successful candidates will be positive, enthusiastic and proactive educators with a passion for working with adolescents and supporting them in developing a high level of proficiency in Latin. Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes a community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.

    Additional duties will include advising students, holding conferences with students and parents, active engagement in the work of the department and participation in department, division and all-school initiatives. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position for one year only.

    Prior Lake Savage Area Schools are growing school district with an outstanding German program.  We have two full time German positions at Prior Lake High School and we are looking for an energetic, out-going colleague to lead the German program at the middle school level.  We are teaching in the TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) and/or CI (Comprehensible Input) method.  Obviously, candidates with a TPRS/CI background or interest would be preferred but it is not required.  Our district is very supportive of training teachers in TPRS/CI.  There is a great possibility of growth in the position in the very near future.
